Business Trip to Portland and Seattle

I'm back! Two nights away and 3700 flight miles toward Gold Elite status...I was travelling with Arena Resources...I see no reason not to buy this stock***

But you don't come to the blog for stock recommendations. On to the important stuff. Joseph is smiling more, Grace enjoyed the bumbo, and Charlie is a bruiser...

Typical weekend pose.

Pow Wow with Daddy (again typical weekends don't always include showers...)

Gratuitous Nudity - The Bath Pictures

Grace...Daddy has a keen ability to state the obvious.

Joseph "What the Hell is Going On???" Heikkinen

Charlie "I'm just happy to be here" Heikkinen

Two guarantees...First, these pictures are cute.
Second, these pictures will likely come out on the first date night.

Busy Weekend

Whirlwind is the best description of the weekend. I flew to Ken's wedding in Detroit on Friday morning, partied until midnight, and caught am 8am flight (delayed until 10:12am) back home. While I was gone our friends Marshall and Emily came by on Friday and our friend Lori flew in from New Orleans for the weekend.

We had a surprise visit from Ann's former partner Alex on Saturday. Things are good with him, he quit East Jefferson Hospital an is hanging his own shingle. If you live in New Orleans go see Alex. He was my doctor and look how good a job he did with me.

Saturday night could have been better. Joseph decided he really wanted company throughout the entire night. Next time, I will take pictures when I wake Ann at 1am and then she can reciprocate when she wakes me at 3am. Again the "love every minute with your baby" crowd is delusional.

Sunday we made the trip to the Rueff's. Clearly the biggest benefit for living in Houston is being close to family. We love the fact they can be part of our day to day lives.

Playtime Saturday

Happy Babies!!!

I'm a lover, not a fighter

Charlie is looking for love. Mothers watch your daughters.

Charlie calls this "hey darlin', my crib or yours?" pose

Grace and Dakota take a nap

Dakota thinks, "How long do I have to stay again?" Daddy says "until she cries."

All clear Mr. President

Joseph secretly joined the Secret Service and is checking his earpiece. He chose a unique camouflage onesie to match his surroundings. Boy is a prodigy.

Baby weights and lengths

We've got some tall babies...Charlie is a hoss, particularly given he was a preemie twin.

  • Joseph weighed 7lbs 9oz on 7/11 and weighed 8lb 9oz on 8/2. (32% percentile)
  • Joseph was 20" long at birth and is now 21 3/4" long. (74% percentile)

  • Charlie weighed 5lbs 11oz on 5/22 and weighed 11lb 10oz on 8/2. (85% percentile)
  • Charlie was 17 3/4" long at birth and is now 23 1/2" long. (96% percentile)

  • Grace weighed 5lbs 7oz on 5/22 and weighed 10lb on 8/2. (46% percentile)
  • Grace was 17" long at birth and is now 22 3/4" long. (81% percentile)

Thank you for playing.

Daddy Travel Plans

Next week will be a big week. Right now I have a company visit on Wednesday and Thursday and Ken's wedding on Friday. Ann will be on her own. We knew this would happen at some point, but it sure isn't going to be easy. Wish us luck.

First Birthday as a Daddy

So I started out the day with the grand plan of taking the triplets for a run, while Mom and Ann showered. 10 minutes into the run, Joseph decided he had enough, 2minutes later Charlie decided he agreed with Joe. So for our return trip I had two sirens on full volume. My favorite unsolicited comment from a woman walking under an umbrella to avoid the 7:30am sun was, "so hot" with a tisk, tisk tisk. I truly appreciated her feedback. Grace was actually smiling in the middle. Maybe I need to consider buying a single jogging stroller, then the happiest (or saddest) baby can come with me?

I then took the dogs for a walk just to get them to calm down before Lori came over. Didn't really work We've got a couple pictures below. After Lori's visit Charlie and I took a nap together. Well in all truth, Charlie, Maddie, Ginger and I were napping for awhile.

To cap the day off Ann and I went out on a date. Last night Paige was nice enough to volunteer for babysitting duty with Mom. So Ann and I went to see Harry Potter. Ann has a little thing for Matt Damon but the Borne Ultimatum was so out. Too bad. We came home and ate Ann's Red Carpet cake, fed the kiddos and went to bed...All in all a very happy birthday.

Guess the babies weight - Doctor's Appt Today

Charlie, Grace, and Joseph head to the doctor today. Post your replies with expected weight per baby. For reference, Charlie is the biggest and Joseph is the smallest. Closest combined weight, but not over wins (Price is Right rules in effect).

We'll announce the weight and winner next week.

Shameless reminder - Daddy's birthday is 8/4

Work Family Balance

Have to admit I am struggling with the balance between my work and family. This is one of the busy times at work with earnings season, so I usually am up at 4:30am to check the news and get ready for work, then we feed the babies at 5am, and I head out between 5:30 and 6am.

We then have the normal mad scramble to prepare for our 7am sales meeting, add and edit comments for our morning email that is sent to clients.

The day then flys by with client, earnings, and follow-up calls. Next thing I know it is 5pm and I am missing the 5pm feeding at home. So that means the next time the kids will be up is 9pm, but since I get up at 4:30 that means 6-6.5hours of sleep and I start all over again. Luckily I have a great wife, have had Ann's parents and my Mom around, and we have two great nannies.

Normal stuff I hear from all Dad's, you'd like to be around more, have more free time... Just an opportunity to blow off a little steam to all my friends and family.
